- We were based at the hotel King for 3 nights, and
it couldn't have been more convienient, close to all
the attractions and nightlife, without being noisy.
The rooms are basic, and our bed wasn't the most comfortable
we have slept in, the breakfast was good and set us
up nicely for the day... all in all but not too bad
for the price...and afterall location is the most
important thing - Nov

- dvdmckie@ntlworld.com - Watch out you
don't walk right pass the entrance as it is quite
easy to miss... because the hotel is in an old part
of Rome they are not allowed to stick big neon lights
outside! The hotel itself is a 3 star (***) which
in Italy is not the same thing as in Scotland. It
is ideally situated between Via Veneto and the Spanish
Steps and can be reached easily by metro if you get
out at Piazza Barberini. The rooms are simple, but
soundproofed and the bed is very good! We were located
on one of the upper floors and heard absolutely nothing
from the noisy street below. In our opinion the breakfast
wasn't up to all that much but in Scotland we are
used to the full monty... maybe a mediterrean start
to the day is the way to go afterall when in Rome....

- Myself and my girlfriend had a great time
in Rome and this was due largely to the location of
the Hotel King - quite simply it is one of the best
locations in Rome, an old and traditional style buliding
but well maintained the hotel is located between the
Spanish steps and piazza Barberini. An easy walk to
just about everywhere. Oct
Anonymous, Los Angeles, USA - We
stayed here for five nights in March . The rooms
were clean. The decor has seen better days, but the
staff are fantastic, friendly and will do anything
for you. The location is fabulous - BUT - AVOID EATING
AT THE RESTAURANT DOWN THE STREET - LA TAVERNETTA
DEL PESCATORE. It advertises 'home cooking' I dont
think so. The guy charges 5 star prices for the worst
food we had EVER eaten. No one finished their starter,
and three of the four at the table had one mouthful
of the main course before leaving it. The last person
has two mouthfuls. The bill made London prices seem
cheap. We paid E200 for one bottle of house wine,
4 starters and 4 main courses. Stay at the
hotel, its basic but cheap. DONT eat at the
restarant - unless you have good travel insurance.

Anonymous, Louisville, KY - Stayed
at the King Hotel for six days starting March 18,
. I found the location terrific, the staff helpful
and friendly. It is a bit quirky with the halls and
elevators but this only added to its charm. There
are two beautiful outdoor areas (one on the roof and
the other on first floor) and the rooms were just
fine. I really enjoyed this hotel and it added to
a wonderful trip! May
Anonymous, Boston, MA - King Hotel
has a great location in Rome offering short walks
to the Spanish Steps (great hang out location at night)
Trevi & Pantheon..short walks to the Forum, Colloseum
and most museums. We pre-booked out accomodations
through an agent and I requested all AC rooms on all
hotels. When we arrived I asked and confirmed this
detail and was told it was an AC room. After dragging
our bags across the hotel to an un - AC room I was
furious and called to desk. As mentioned in previous
review, some rooms are not located and accessable
by elevator. Upon calling to desk we were promptly
moved to an AC room (on our own no porters) which
was cool, clean and comfortable. I think they just
try you first to see if you will complain about no
AC...maybe in December I wouldn't but with the heat
wave in Italy in August '03 I was not about to settle
for the 1st room. Breakfast was good...typical Italian
style with ham, cereals, cheeses, breads, yogurt.
Nice breakfast terrace for lounging and eating. Desk
staff in particular Roberto was very helpful offering
good restaurant recommendations as well as making
reservations and calling ahead for us (which I recommended
doing). Ladies don't count on the hairdryers in the
rooms....they are present but not very good in general.
