The Trevi Fountain or Fontana di
Trevi is known the world over as the fountain where
Anita Ekberg cooled off in Fellini's La Dolce Vita.
Nowadays anybody caught in the fountain
is liable to be arrested as happened to a group of
English Supporters who decided it was a great place
to have a swim (in March ). No one is allowed into
the fountain even if you do it during the dead of
night as one enterprising young Roman recently found
out.
It seems this chap had been visiting
the fountain every night in the early hours in order
to collect the thousands of coins which are thrown
into the fountain everyday
...he was later released and told
not to do it again!
